Danse Macabre was made in 2005 as part of 'The Art of Permanence and Change' (a Lookoutpost exhibition held in Sydenham Hill Woods in collaboration with the London Wildlife Trust). The wooden marionette structure is made from the beams of an old cinema and forms a skeletal framework in the ruins of the old Folly. Periodically throughout the exhibition a violinist dressed in puppet uniform, white cotton and a painted dolls face, walks through the woods and into the Folly. She is attached to her wooden framework by strings of elastic and begins playing her violin. The sound of Saint saens' Danse Macabre echoes through the woods.
